Many cultures recognize the importance of music and sound as a healing power. In the ancient civilizations of India\, Tibet\, Nepal and among the American Indians\, the practice of using sound to heal and achieve balance from within has existed for thousands of years.\n\n\n\nThis concert features over 14 Himalayan bowls made of different metals. The bowls were not made originally as musical instruments\, but have been used by Buddhist monks for centuries for their healing qualities. The naturally occurring harmonics and the resonance of these ancient bowls\, some over 300 hundred years old\, will astound you and take you on a journey through the mysterious Himalayas.  The singing bowls\, which are either struck or rubbed around the rim with a mallet\, emit tones that are said to mingle with the body's own natural sound waves and act as an aid in meditation and enlightenment.
