The Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) Foundation is honored to announce the INSPIRE Workforce Development & Job Readiness Program.
The MACC Foundation will be offering 50 Delaware residents 18 years or older with the opportunity to hone their skillsets through workforce readiness, soft skills, time management, computer hardware, Microsoft Office software, LinkedIn, leadership and public speaking training, workshops and webinars.
Our Workforce Inspiration Team (WIN) of strategic subject matter experts, including Microsoft, will offer business resources, workshops and seminars, professional head shots for LinkedIn page and one on one training to assist our local workforce with their job readiness preparation through our program that runs from January through early April.
Workforce Readiness training provides instruction in nontechnical skills important for success in the workplace. This training teaches “soft” skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, professionalism, conflict resolution, digital literacy, and communication. Job readiness training provides participants the tools to prepare them to seek or obtain employment in Delaware and to keep their jobs once they are hired. Instruction will include: the do’s and don’ts on preparing a résumé, effective interview skills to help job seekers identify and obtain employment, as well as appropriate attire both in a virtual and in-person interview environment. Many people need Workforce Readiness training to help them find, keep, and advance in jobs. Laid-off workers who have not recently searched for employment, workers re-entering the job marketplace, or individuals who seek to advance their career, can benefit from the job search skills provided through this Workforce Readiness training.
The program will be offered on a first come first served basis with a needs assessment conducted for each participant and will culminate with a job fair in partnership with the Department of Labor on April 14, 2022 at the Townsend Firehall from 11 am -2 pm.. Registration for the INSPIRE Workforce Development initiative will open on 12/1 and there is no fee to participate in the program.
"Our employers are in dire need of employees, the INSPIRE Workforce Readiness initiative will offer our local workforce with the opportunity for both personal and professional development. We're so glad to be able to leverage our Chamber of Commerce and Foundation resources to provide this much needed program." Roxane Ferguson, Executive Director, Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce / MACC Foundation
